The Ralph Thornton Community Centre’s annual Free Tax Clinic is now taking calls and booking appointments with appointments beginning on Monday March 3, 2025.
To be eligible for the Free Tax Clinic, individuals must have a modest income and a simple tax situation (see examples below).
Priority will also be given to residents of the Ralph Thornton Centre catchment area (bordered by Danforth Ave., Coxwell Ave., Don Valley Pkwy. and Lake Ontario).
A modest income is based on the following thresholds.

| 1 person | $40,000 |
| 2 people | $50,000 |
| 3 people | $52,500 , plus $2,500 for each additional person |
A Simple Tax Situation means we cannot help you if you have:
- self-employment income over $1000
- employment expenses to claim
- business income and expenses
- rental income and expenses
- interest income over $1,000
- capital gains or losses
- declared bankruptcy in the tax year (or the year before, if that return has not yet been filed)
- to complete a tax return for a deceased person
- foreign property (T1135)
- foreign income
