Ensuring Sustainable and Equitable Childcare at RTCC in 2025

As the cost of living continues to rise in Toronto and beyond, the Ralph Thornton Community Centre (RTCC) remains committed to providing high-quality programming for children and families in our community. To sustain the essential services offered through the Riverdale Adventure Camp (RAC) and After School Program (ASP) in 2025, we must implement a fee increase.

Why Are Fees Increasing?

RAC and ASP are not-for-profit programs, meaning we operate at-cost to ensure affordability while maintaining the highest standards of childcare and programming. To continue delivering the enriching experiences your children deserve, we need to adjust our fees while prioritizing fairness and accessibility.

Introducing a Geared-to-Income Fee Structure

Understanding the diverse financial situations of families in our community, we are introducing a sliding scale fee system. This model ensures that fees are more equitable, with rates adjusted based on household income. Our approach is built on trust—families will not be required to provide proof of income, such as a notice of assessment. Instead, we encourage households to contribute what is manageable, with the hope that some families may choose to support others by paying higher fees.

Have Your Say

We are committed to transparency and community input as we make this transition. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for details on the new fee structure or share your feedback through our online survey.

Thank You for Your Support

Your continued support allows us to provide meaningful, high-quality childcare and programming for all families in the Riverdale community. Together, we can ensure that every child has access to enriching experiences that help them grow and thrive.
